À Paris

I went to Paris last weekend to visit some Missionaries working in Paris. It was really cool to see what it is actually like to live with them and experience what life is like on the mission field. They have 5 kids, and 3 of them live there in France with them an go to French schools (the other 2 are in college in the States). So I learned a lot about the French school as a result. I really enjoyed being able to talk with them and hear how things were going. I got to see the type of people they work with and the area in which they work. I now know and understand this place is a huge need for ministry in Paris. There are people from all over the world living in this neighborhood; North Africans, West Africans, West Asians, Moroccans, Gypsies (all of these are mostly Muslim). The husband took me to the market one day to see the people and meet a few of those that he was working with. It reminded me a lot of the market in China.  During the day, they were usually busy taking kids from one thing to another and doing work, so I went into Paris is see some things. I took my camera to a repair shop, and he said he’d be able to fix it. I haven’t received an e-mail or a call from him yet, but I hope it can be fixed. Here’s what I saw in Paris: Notre Dame, Ile de la Cité, Sacre Coeur, Montmartre, Le Louvre, La Tour Eiffel, and a Greek Parthenon, and Greek Arena.  I did a lot of walking. I found out it was colder in Paris then in Angers. And also I think I was trying to rush the spring too much, cause I didn’t bring enough clothes, but that’s ok. Either way, Paris was really cool.  I think Montmartre was my favorite place. I would probably choose to live there, if I had to make a choice. But I really miss the mountains. I haven’t been hiking in so long. I also miss the drums. I’m glad I have a guitar though.

Today I went running around the lake that is right behind our dorm. It was really nice to get out and do some exercise. I also woke up early this morning and went out to another lake on my bike and did my devotion.  It’s so hard to sit inside all day in my dorm. There’s really nothing to do in Angers. Because I don’t have a car, the only place to go is into town and go shopping, or at night go to the bars. The social atmosphere isn’t very encouraged in the dorms or at the University. There’s no mutual place to hang out. So our big event every day is dinner. At about 8 o’clock we all go into the kitchen, cook dinner and end up staying there until they come and close it at 10:30pm. It’s really stupid that they close the kitchen. O well. I think I’m going to a Theatre show tonight. That should be fun. I’ve been having class and learning many a thing. My French is slowly but surely coming along.
